When I saw this little pic in the article on the Irish Open I got a bit curious about the backhand swing, grip and so on, and enlarged it for a better view.
Not sure if this is a typical stroke of Gough's though it does not look to be a terribly difficult return he is attempting. I was sort of looking at the pic in disbelief that a top player could have such an unorthodox style.

correction to Rita's post is needed:
Picture shown here was taken at Bear Stearns Tournament of Champions (Glasscourt).
Cannon Kirk Irish Open was played at the "club" court, so the picture like that would be hard to be taken.
Anyway — Thumbs up and the hats off to Mr. Goughie. Good ol' squash palyers never die. Look at John White career, catching up the wind into the sails so does Gough. It's a pity we do not have JP and PN on the pro tour anymore :(

Gough, the 36 year old WR23 ended up winning the Irish Open defeating Borja Golan of Spain. The match took 90 minutes. He must be fit and strong and able to get the ball back into play or he would not be the winner.
He looks to be cool as a cucumber too.
