Hello, I hope I am making this post in the correct section of the forum.

I've felt that by keeping the racket vertical through the shot (forehand & backhand) I can comfortably hit the ball high on the front wall from the back-court. Using the horizontal racket I tend to hit the ball not much higher than the Service Line. I quite like this technique of using the vertical racket, undercutting the ball, sending it behind the Service Box slow enough for me to recover & get to the T.

(My racket is strung at 19 lbs which makes the ball sit on the strings for that extra-second longer for me to get my wrist into the shot. )

The one trouble I have with this technique is that I mis-hit the shot quite badly when I do so, sending the ball a-lob to the centre of the court; of course, lacking focus on the ball might be the true reason for this. Still, I'd be glad to learn from anyone who uses the same technique or might like to try it some time, about any aspect of such a positioning of the racket.

Ciao!

The Gold videos have certainly been enlightening and have given me lots to work on, and not just in terms of this particular scenario.
