Squash good. Cycling bad.

In an effort to improve my leg strength for squash, I thought I'd do a few laps around the block on my bike this morning.
I live on a hill so I thought this'd be an effecient way of targeting my legs. Because of the uphill nature of the ride I only needed about 12 minutes to get my fill. Unfortunately within a few minutes of getting home I was feeling pretty sick. I ended up passing out once in my chair, and twice more on the way to the toilet. I apparently hit my head pretty hard on the tiles which accounts for the headache.

Kind of surprising as my fitness is pretty good and I very rarely feel like death after squash. I certainly didn't feel good waking up on the ground today though!
I might have to think of an alternative cross training activity...or at least not deliberately target hills when I ride.squash game squash extras How to add images to Members' Forum posts and replies here...

another thought is that you may not have been breathing properly. some times when you are exerting yourself, but maybe thinking it should be easy, you do not draw in enough oxygen, thus depriving the brain. this can sometimes make you feel light headed.

Yeah, better to be safe than sorry.  If they wire you up at least they can see what is going on with your heart too under stress.  Another thought sometimes the Human Movements dept of the Uni is interested in this sort of testing, etc...just a thought.

I did the step test in your link Rita. Resultant heart rate put me at the good end of the "Above Average" category. I've made a doctors appointment too, but being Mackay it's 2 weeks away :)

Mike - the Step Test is good for both cardio and leg strength; also up and down stairs which can be done per times or by minutes whichever is the easiest.  I rather like the idea of it lasting for the length of a rally and then stop and start to sort of mimic the heart rate during a rally.  This can be done out of the sun too and is a bit more a controlled environment.
Keep a record of your number and times to see if you are improving would be a good idea.

Mike here is a link which might help you think about what you did and what to do in the future.

I'm 22.
I think something about the ride must have kept too much blood in my legs, and not enough in my head.

Mike - I agree with Gregzilla, that does not sound OK - think you better have a stress test asap. Not sure of your age either.

Uh, if you really passed out three times after that, you might consider going to the doctor.  That doesn't sound good at all.
