Viper - top players, having reached that level/class, will always retain their abilities, but the critical thing is fitness (providing they did not retire injured), and that is why people do announce their retirement. They do not want to go through the grind, particularly after 17 years, and of course they do not want to lose their reputation either. Sarah is an excellent ambassador for squash, with heaps of knowledge and experience, and now leaves herself available for promotion, coaching, sponsorship and the like. Less pressure of course too.
